Andy "The Viking" Fordham Biography
Born: Feb 2, 1962
Eldest of four children Andy has a brother and two sisters.
Andy grew up in Charlton, South-East London and went to Charlton Manor Primary School and Eaglesfield Secondary School.
Andy was a keen track and field athlete and gained the nickname "The Whippet".
He was also a keen footballer and played after he left school for the Angerstine Hotel - this was where his love of darts was sparked.
The Angerstine Hotel football team also made up most of the darts team and after football training one Wednesday night the lads were a man short and asked "the Whippet" to join them.
Andy was useless at first but one of the team saw something in his darts and uttered the immortal words: "Sign him up, the lad's got potential."
The rest as they say is history and the story of how The Whippet became The Viking.
From the hotel team Andy graduated through to the Kent Super League and then to Kent county level.
Andy moved to London soon afterwards and then up to Renfrewshire in Scotland where he competed at county level.
Back down south Andy now plays for Essex County.
